Getting Started with MariaDB is a book for beginners. No previous MariaDB or MySQL experience is necessary. You will need to be familiar with how to use and operate a computer and will need to be comfortable with using the command line, but that’s it.
The book walks you through installing MariaDB on Windows, MacOS X, and various Linux flavors. It then goes through how to set up and use MariaDB. There are lots of examples throughout the book.
Best of all, it’s not that long! No need to be fearful of spending forever with a 1000-page monstrosity. Lots of links to online resources are provided for those that want to learn more about a given subject, but that’s entirely up to you.
