MariaDB and MySQL Common Table Expressions and Window Functions Revealed is a book about two of the most exciting (to me anyway) new features in MariaDB 10.3 and MySQL 8.0 : Common Table Expressions (CTEs) and Window Functions. Both features have been a long time coming, but they’re finally here!
This book walks you through both features, with lots of hands-on examples to leave you with a good understanding of not only how to use CTEs and Window Functions, but when.
To get the most out of this book you should already be familiar with how to use MariaDB or MySQL and have have at the latest MariaDB 10.2 or MySQL 8.0 installed. The examples in the book all use the mysql command-line client, so you should be familiar with that as well. And speaking of the examples, the source code for the book can be found on github.
As with my Getting Started with MariaDB book, this one is not very long, only a little over 100 pages. Once you have the source code and MariaDB or MySQL installed you can jump right in to reading and following along with the examples (if you so choose).
